Vivino is a popular wine enthusiast website with a large database of information about wine from around the world. This project is a proof of concept for scraping data from Vivino for the purposes of understanding the wine market in Spain and around the world. Notably, there are some limitations. First, the list of wines scraped is not a complete and comprehensive view of Spanish wine, as wine culture in Spain has traditionally been that of small production and barrel sales. For this reason, many small wine producers are not included in Vivino's database and therefore not represented in the data. Second, the selection only includes wines currently available for purchase and with a minimum of 25 reviews. Lastly, as a consumer database, the results of ratings may not represent professional opinions and may be limited by the 5-star rating system due to its overly simplistic nature.

The Spill

The Spanish wine industry is known throughout Europe for its value. The absolute quality to price of Spanish wine is largely unprecedented throughout Europe. While Spanish winemakers may not appreciate the fame of French wines due to the premiums people pay for them, the Spanish wine drinkers can relax and enjoy a bottle without popping the cork on their bank account, as even some of the highest-rated Spanish red wines remain well below the €15 per bottle mark. In a smash, here are the top 10 Spanish wines for wine enthusiasts on a budget.

But just how cheap is quality Spanish red wine?

Since we may not have to look any further for wines over the €10 mark to get our smooze on, we can skip on to the €5-€10 mark for the top 10 value wines from Spain. Here we can see that for the value €5 goes a long way giving you some excellent companions to sip from.

Last, but certainly not least, we can find the absolute highest value wines all for less than a fiver. These 10 wines may not be of top-notch quality, but you can be sure that you won’t feel robbed or broken-hearted when your tipsy friend spills the bottle. These wines are perfect for the uni student looking to impress their friends while leaving some extra change for a slice of pizza or falafel at the end of a hard night out on the plaza.
